Reviving Retro: Jack Le Coq Restaurant

Drawing Inspiration from the 50s

In the heart of Laval, Canada, the Quebec Fast Food Chain “Jack Le Coq” underwent a remarkable transformation under the creative direction of Jack Gaspo, the restaurant’s owner. Collaborating with XY Contemporary Interior Design Office, Gaspo aimed to blend the nostalgic charm of 50s diners with modern decor elements, injecting a burst of color into the space.

Creating an Adult CANDYLAND

The vision for Jack Le Coq was to create an immersive dining experience akin to an adult CANDYLAND, fostering a fun and vibrant atmosphere for diners of all ages. Post-pandemic, Gaspo sought to uplift spirits and bring joy to patrons after what he described as a “dark time” for the community.

Standout Features in a Strip Mall

Amidst a strip mall filled with restaurants, XY Contemporary aimed to create standout features that captivated passersby and diners alike. The design team envisioned an experience that extended beyond the restaurant’s walls, inviting everyone to partake in the vibrant ambiance.

Balancing Creativity and Brand Identity

One of the key challenges for XY Contemporary was striking a balance between creativity and brand identity. While maintaining consistency across all Jack Le Coq locations was essential, the design team also aimed to infuse each space with its own unique flair. Custom light fixtures, playful volumes, and colorful furniture were tailored to each location, ensuring individuality while staying true to the brand.

Thoughtful Design, Every Detail Considered

From custom light fixtures to retro-looking mirrors strategically placed to enhance visibility, no detail was overlooked in the design process. XY Contemporary meticulously studied every corner of the space, prioritizing both ergonomic functionality for staff and an enjoyable experience for patrons.

With its retro-inspired aesthetic, vibrant color palette, and thoughtful design elements, Jack Le Coq Restaurant stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of nostalgia and modernity, offering diners an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Laval, Canada.
