Nestled in the picturesque Eure Valley of Normandy, just an hour away from Paris, the house is surrounded by lush greenery, including beech trees, walnut trees, shrubs, and fruit trees. Preserving Heritage

The existing structures, characterized by their rural charm, served as the foundation for the renovation. The millstone facades, red flat tile roofs, and wooden lintels evoke the rich history of the location. Studio Guma sought to preserve the material and spatial qualities of the original architecture, paying homage to its agricultural past.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the house was influenced by the existing elements of the site. Spaces unfold seamlessly, transitioning between shared and private areas. Bedrooms are nestled in the lower part of the terrain, offering views of the garden while maintaining a sense of privacy through traditional vertical windows.

The common areas are divided into two sections: the kitchen-dining area and the living room. The former cart shed now serves as the central living space, connecting interior and exterior spaces.
