Architectural Vision

Designed by Tati Tavares and Alex Dalcin Arquitetura, Casa do Olhar is situated in Goiânia/GO, Brazil, tailored for a young couple embarking on the journey of family life. With a penchant for socializing and cherishing shared moments with loved ones, the couple sought more than just a dwelling but a space to cultivate experiences and forge lasting memories.

Design Challenges

The corner location of the plot posed a unique challenge, with its optimal view facing the West, exposing the house to direct and intense afternoon sunlight. Balancing the desire for brightness and warmth with the need for thermal comfort during peak hours became paramount in the design process.

Innovative Solutions

On the lower floor, a strategic approach was adopted, featuring varying ceiling heights to mitigate the effects of direct sunlight. A muxarabi structure was incorporated between these heights, acting as a barrier to block direct sunlight while maintaining ample natural light and preserving the scenic vista.

Intimate Retreat

For the upper floor housing the intimate quarters, movable latticed panels and Venetian blinds were employed, offering three distinct options for light and privacy control: closed blinds for complete sun blockage, open blinds with closed panels for filtered lighting and privacy, and fully open blinds and panels for uninterrupted views.

Embracing the View

True to its name, Casa do Olhar (House of the Gaze) was conceived to maximize its panoramic view, minimizing visual barriers through expansive spans and minimal pillars. Structural elements like beams and prestressed slabs were utilized to achieve this vision, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Cozy Elegance

Despite the architectural challenges, Casa do Olhar emerged as a cozy retreat that blurs the lines between interior and exterior, offering uninterrupted views and comfortable living throughout the day. By embracing innovation and thoughtful design, Tati Tavares and Alex Dalcin Arquitetura have crafted a modern family residence that epitomizes elegance and functionality.
