In 2022, AsNow Design & Construct unveiled the Bafter Clinic, a dermatology clinic located in Tehran, Iran. Led by architects Ehsan Tavassoli and Solmaz Tatari, the clinic’s interior design reflects a careful consideration of the treatment process and pays homage to the expertise of the doctor.

Conceptualization and Design Process

Inspired by concepts related to dermatology treatment, such as texture, layers, purification, and elegance, the design aimed to engage the senses within the limited spatial confines. Similarities and contrasts were employed to evoke these concepts, with a meticulous approach akin to a doctor’s examination. Unnecessary elements were stripped away, revealing structural and utility elements to form a flexible and cohesive space.

Embracing Structural Elements and Flexibility

The design exposed structural elements like the roof slab network and utility pipes, forming a mesh layer that provided both visual interest and functional flexibility. Treatment boxes were integrated into this framework, creating a harmonious blend of form and function. Challenges such as a disproportionate corner were addressed creatively, utilizing natural elements like sycamore trees to enhance spatial quality.

Marrying Aesthetics with Functionality

The staff dressing room, enclosed within the arch wall, offers privacy without compromising accessibility. The treatment box, characterized by semi-transparent glass, creates a striking contrast with the rough texture of the mesh, sparking curiosity among visitors and adhering to hygiene standards.
