Revamping Public Space: The Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center in the Czech Republic

The Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center, located in the Czech Republic, stands as a modernization endeavor undertaken by SENAA architekti. Covering an area of 4630 m², this architectural feat came to fruition in the year 2023, with stunning photography captured by BoysPlayNice.

The Project Overview

Initiated with the modernization of an outdoor public swimming pool, this project has expanded to include the construction of a new indoor swimming pool, enhancing the recreational options available. The roots of this aquatic facility trace back to the early 20th century with the establishment of a river swimming spa. Nestled amidst the urban structure and central Kyjov Park, this complex seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, enriched by the presence of century-old trees.

Sensitivity to Surroundings

Lead architects Václav Navrátil and Jan Sedláček envisioned a design that respects the existing character of the area. The new building, with its linear arrangement along Mezivodí Street, harmonizes with the urban fabric, culminating at the street’s end. Enhancements to the pool’s forecourt, adjacent pedestrian routes, and cycling paths further contribute to the area’s revitalization.

Architectural Elements

Softening the facade with brick strips and gold-colored perforated sheet metal, the architects aimed to create a visually appealing structure. Through strategic placement of windows and transparent surfaces, the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly merge, enriching the overall experience. Additionally, future plans include gradual expansions over the next decade, ensuring the facility remains adaptable to evolving needs.

Indoor Facilities

The indoor pool chamber offers a diverse range of amenities, including a swimming pool with five lanes, adventure pool, and wellness area. Visitors can indulge in various features such as massage jets, water slides, and saunas, all while enjoying picturesque views of the surrounding greenery.

Wellness Oasis

The wellness area boasts five distinct saunas, each designed to evoke a unique sensory experience. From tropical to Finnish ceremonial saunas, visitors can immerse themselves in a journey of relaxation and rejuvenation. Outdoor terraces and a relaxation room with a captivating Barrisol starry sky further enhance the tranquil ambiance.

Ground Floor Amenities

Practical amenities such as cloakrooms, showers, and changing rooms cater to the needs of outdoor pool enthusiasts. An Aqua bar counter serves both indoor and outdoor swimming areas, providing refreshments for visitors to enjoy amidst their aquatic adventures.

Outdoor Splendor

While the outdoor swimming pool largely retains its original form, stainless steel insertions and additional features like massage benches and water slides augment the overall experience. The inclusion of a central outdoor bar adds convenience, ensuring visitors can savor refreshments without straying far from the pools.

In conclusion, the Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center in the Czech Republic stands as a testament to thoughtful design and innovation, offering a harmonious blend of recreation, wellness, and natural beauty.
