Embracing Sustainability

As part of the “Five Ones” Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction Model Program in Longgang District, Liu Lian Primary School embarked on a journey to create a safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly campus. The renovation project, the nation’s first elementary school undertaking in a PEDF project, aimed to pioneer near-zero-energy solutions within an existing building.

Rethinking Campus Design

The existing campus faced challenges such as outdated teaching facilities, inefficient space utilization, and safety concerns. The renovation focused on fostering a harmonious interaction between students and their surroundings, promoting green initiatives, and enhancing educational experiences. By revamping entrances, activating corridors, and optimizing space usage, the campus was transformed into a dynamic learning environment.

Green Technologies Integration

The renovation integrated various green technologies and materials to achieve near-zero energy consumption. Utilizing steel structures, modular construction methods, and prefabricated components, the project minimized energy consumption and construction time while maximizing sustainability. The incorporation of photovoltaic power generation, energy storage systems, and rainwater harvesting further enhanced the school’s environmental performance.

Intelligent Campus Solutions

In addition to energy-saving measures, the school adopted intelligent systems to monitor and manage energy consumption effectively. Smart sensors and metering devices enabled real-time monitoring of campus energy usage, empowering the school to optimize resource allocation and reduce carbon emissions. The implementation of AI-driven solutions in classrooms and libraries further reduced energy consumption and enhanced operational efficiency.
